Technical Advisor – VMware

Position Summary

As VMware Technical Advisor, your main responsibilities will be to analyze business and technology needs, to design, implement and deploy virtual infrastructure solutions for our clients. You will participate to different types of mandates including; advisory services, solution architecture, technical integration, incident support giving you the opportunity to apply and develop your knowledge by collaborating with our team and with our customer themselves in a spirit of knowledge transfer.

You will require to invest yourself with the team and with PCD to develop your skills. PCD Solutions will provide all the available tools, ressources and training for you to succeed in your active mandates and to complete any required certification you may need for future projects.

  • Located in Montreal and the surrounding areas
  • Required level of expertise – Intermediate to advanced


  • Help customer define their business and technology needs
  • Design & develop solution architectures
  • Prepare proposals based on functional and technical requirements
  • Establish terms of integration mandates and obtain client’s approval on deliverables
  • Determine deadlines for projects to be completed and plan project steps
  • Execute integration mandates and adhere to agreed deadlines and timeframes
  • Analyze any problems that arise, seek solutions, and perform planned work
  • Perform necessary tests and implement and run the solutions adopted
  • Manage and lead certain projects
  • Manage changes made to projects
  • Conduct regular coordination meetings with client representatives
  • Ensure appropriate knowledge transfer to client
  • Provide the director of consulting services with regular updates on progress of work, risk and difficulties encountered
  • Document interventions and solutions worked on
  • Report directly to the VP Consulting Services


Recommended training:

  • Diploma of Collegial Studies (DCS) or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or any other relevant experience
  • VMware certification

Experience required:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with VMware
  • Relevant experience in implementing virtualization solutions
  • Experience with vRealize Operations, SRM, vSAN
  • Experience in administration of storage systems
  • Knowledge of Blade server technologies from HPE, Hitachi, others
  • Networking experience – HP, Cisco, Arista (asset)
  • Experience in a IT Consulting role (asset)
