The Senior Technical Advisor | VMware Cloud Solutions’ role is to guide and advise clients in planning the migration of their current environments to modern Cloud solutions. The Advisor clearly establishes client technology and business needs, and directs them toward the appropriate solutions and architecture. The Advisor participates in various project stages and in the solution deployment and technical delivery according to the technological and application environment. The Advisor develops and leverages their knowledge of VMware technologies and existing Cloud platforms, and/or any other relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Support clients throughout their digital transformation (audits, architecture, guidance, implementation, deployment and training)
- Identify or validate possible Cloud solutions based on the technology environment, IT systems and existing processes
- Determine if the Cloud solutions can adequately meet the functional and technical needs in terms of service availability
- Analyze, identify, compare and evaluate available Cloud solutions
- Determine the issues, risks and impacts of the migration
- Validate the technical feasibility, namely in terms of interoperability or integration with other systems, data migration and exchange
- Identify the target Cloud architecture (technology infrastructure configuration parameters, security requirements, etc.)
- Where necessary, determine what tests are required to confirm certain functionalities offered by providers, taking into account the client’s technological reality
- Keep a technology watch by completing proofs of concept
- Proactively participate in optimizing and improving client platforms
- Provide client support in case of problems
Requirements
Training and experience
- Technical training and IT certifications
- 5 to 10 years of experience in an advisor role and in enterprise IT solution deployment
- Experience with the VMware solutions and Cloud platform
- Knowledge and experience in Cloud solutions, datacentre management, virtualization and data protection
Skills
- Architecture – Ability to design intermediate architecture on VMware Cloud (VCF)
- Expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) / Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC)
- Proficiency with VMware tools – Skills using different VMware platform components
- Server virtualization – vSphere
- Storage virtualization – vSAN
- Network virtualization – NSX*
- Operations management – vRealize Operations*
- Orchestration and automation – vRealize Automation*

- Proficiency with VMware tools – Skills using different VMware platform components
- Expertise in container technologies (an asset)
- Hybrid Cloud concepts (notions and competencies) : VMware Cloud on AWS or Azure VMware Solutions (an asset)
